Showing Respect

I've jokingly said "respect your elders" when I've wanted to convince someone of something and get my way.  Sometimes we all need to learn to give way to others.  Not only is it the right thing to do, particularly with our elders, as they often know better than us;  they have seen and experienced far more and have more knowledge to draw from.  It doesn't always make them right, but we can win regardless by offering up this concession out of reverence for God.

We were not however given guidance with regard to someone's station in life.  Janitor or CEO, give them both their due respect.  If you want a relationship of any type to work respect must be at the forefront of your feelings.  When you are out on a date, pay attention to how the person treats waitstaff, and you will learn a lot about the person.

Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the Lord. - Leviticus 19:32
